This thesis interprets the stellar life cycle as a sequence of abstract visual phases, shifting the focus from scientific explanation to graphic interpretation.
The project takes the form of a series of printed publications, each visualizing a stage in a star’s life. Together, the books create a connected system built from a shared library of geometric shapes. Through repetition, scale, layering, and variation, these forms shift and recombine to symbolize transformation over time. Visual relationships replace written narrative, allowing the evolution of a star to unfold through composition rather than description.
Risograph printing plays a central role in this process. Layered inks, overprinting, and slight misregistration introduce rhythm, texture, and unpredictability, making print an active part of the visual language.
This approach uses printing to develop a visual language through experimentation.
