Al-Haif

Al-Haif

A Speculative Illustrated Journal

Al-Haif is a world-building project presented through three illustrated journals of varying sizes that imagine a society shaped by generational neglect, beginning in early childhood and gradually reshaping every system that follows. Each journal documents a different layer of this world, the human body, the structure of society, and the altered environment, and adopts a distinct visual language ranging from scientific illustration to behavioral studies to ecological documentation, all rendered in clean, detailed, full color imagery.

Designed as an experimental artist’s book and exploratory graphic novel, the project incorporates interactive elements such as pop ups, transparencies, and layered pages that invite active reading and discovery. The journals are housed within a sleeve that includes a pocket of collected artifacts, including blood tests, brain scans, letters, and material samples, extending the narrative into a larger archival system.

Al-Haif uses graphic design as both storytelling and investigation, inviting viewers to piece together a society reshaped by absence in a world that has forgotten how to raise itself.
