About VCUarts Qatar

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar) is the international branch campus of Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Richmond, Virginia, ranked No. 2 in the United States among graduate schools of fine arts. Situated in the heart of Doha, VCUarts Qatar is a leading institution for art and design education in the Middle East, distinguished by a dynamic, research-driven environment where creative practice engages with global perspectives, cultural exchange, and innovation.

Established in 1998 through a partnership with Qatar Foundation (QF), VCUarts Qatar was the first university to bring accredited Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts degrees to the Gulf region. Today, it continues to advance a pioneering vision for arts education within an international context. The campus offers undergraduate degrees in disciplines such as graphic design, interior design, kinetic imaging, and painting and printmaking, as well as a Master of Fine Arts in Design. Students work directly with internationally recognized faculty who are practicing artists and researchers, and who encourage experimentation and cross-disciplinary exploration.

Situated within Education City – home to leading global universities, museums, cultural institutions, start-up incubators, and research centers – VCUarts Qatar connects students to a broad ecosystem of collaboration and real-world learning. State-of-the-art studios, fabrication labs, and exhibition spaces support hands-on making and critical inquiry. In addition, partnerships with organizations including Qatar Museums, M7, and the broader creative economy give students access to internships, industry mentorship, and professional pathways.
