Painting + Printmaking
In response to the disruption of conventional studio access precipitated by regional political developments, the cohort has demonstrated a sustained capacity for critical adaptation.
Operating beyond the parameters of the physical studio, these artists have engaged constraint as a generative condition, mobilising it to interrogate and expand their conceptual and methodological frameworks.
Consistent with the department’s emphasis on interdisciplinary inquiry and conceptual rigour, the works presented traverse a wide range of media—including architectural intervention, installation, sculpture, photography, and painting. Collectively, they articulate a nuanced engagement with questions of spatial perception, temporality, memory, and processes of transformation, situating artistic practice within the contingencies of a shifting socio-political landscape.
The resulting body of work attests to a high degree of intellectual agility and material experimentation, cultivated under the mentorship of Professors Rola Khayyat and Peter Welz.
