Visualizing Change and Continuity in Daily Life

This project explores the transformation of daily life in Qatar from the 1950s to the present through comparative research and archival imagery. It focuses on shifts in housing, family relationships, and community life while highlighting the continuity of cultural values rooted in Islamic and Arab traditions, such as hospitality, intergenerational respect, and strong family ties.

Organized around five themes—Home and Family, Childhood and Play, Food and Hospitality, Majlis and Community, and Stories and Memory—the project creates a visual dialogue between past and present.

The outcome is an interactive artist book composed of two bound volumes, “then” and “now,” where paired spreads use juxtaposition to reveal both change and continuity in Qatari everyday life.
