Playful Robot Faces Through Code

This project explores variation through a simple generative system, using code to produce a playful series of robot faces.

Inspired by vintage Japanese tin robots and early mechanical toys, the work translates their expressive qualities into a contemporary, code-driven visual language. A single structured program generates multiple face variations by adjusting constants and variables, allowing features such as eyes, nose, mouth, and eyebrows to shift, repeat, and recombine through controlled randomness.

Rather than replicating its references, the project develops a system for experimentation, where iteration and variation produce distinct robot personalities. The outcome includes an interactive installation, where users can press keys to generate, view, and save faces.
