Darb Al Khor

Darb Al Khor is a board game that reimagines traditional Qatari childhood stories into an interactive and strategic experience. Inspired by the stories we grew up hearing, the game shifts their role from fear-based warnings into a shared, playful journey.

Players control two characters—a parent and a child—navigating through a map of Al Khor toward their grandmother’s house. Along the way, they complete tasks, collect tokens, and encounter familiar folkloric figures that influence their path and decisions.

The game focuses on movement, strategy, and decision-making, where each step directly impacts progression. By transforming cultural narratives into gameplay, the project explores how design can preserve local stories while making them engaging and relevant for a new generation.
